I'm looking forward to Chris McKhool's participation at the Toronto Violin Summit.
Chris will be performing with a five string violin that I have recently made from one of my standard four string violins. I really enjoyed the challenge of making this specific violin, just as much as I enjoyed discussing with Chris about it and having his insights through the process.
Five string violins have an extra string (typically a C), which allows musicians to combine the ranges of violins and violas. Particularly suited for improvisation, these are instruments in demand for jazz, folk and world, the kinds of music in which Chris McKhool excels.
